  • In December 2016 the Institute of Development Studies raised the question whether solar PV will create a wave of toxic battery waste in rural Africa. The text that was published in the Institute’s blog also refers to the work of the Lead Recycling Africa Project.

  • In September 2016, the German newspaper ZEIT published a detailed article on lead-acid battery recycling in Ghana. The article is based on own journalist research and various interviews, also with the Lead Recycling Africa Project. The article can be viewed here.
    On its webpage, the newspaper also published a video-interview with a young man working in one of Ghana’s lead smelters. The video can be watched here

  • In May and June 2016, the magazine Recycling International reported about the project’s efforts to improve lead recycling in Africa and globally. The article can be viewed here.

  • On 15th of January 2015 the online-magazine Restkultur (in German only) published an  interview with Andreas Manhart (Oeko-Institut) on the Lead Recycling Africa Project and the issue of unsound lead-acid battery recycling in general.
